The Project
The Project will contribute towards thermal coal production in the Bowen Basin (satisfying a projected increasing international demand for this product) and provide positive flow-on effects to the local and regional economy and community as a result.
Located approximately 22km west of Emerald, the Project will directly employ up to 150 people during the construction period and up to 350 people for mine operations during the main production period.
We will initially focus on open-cut mining using truck and excavator methods, followed by under ground longwall mining operations.
Including construction, the mine life will be 21 years, followed by a decommissioning period of approximately 12 months. In addition, many more people will be employed in support industries and will be required for periodic maintenance tasks and special projects.
It is estimated that construction of the mine facilities and associated infrastructure will add $852 million to Gross State Product, whilst mine operations will add $3,826.5 million.
The net financial benefits of the Taroborah Coal Project have been estimated at $1,903 million.
About Shenhuo
Shenhuo International Group Pty Ltd is a Brisbane-based subsidiary of Henan Shenhuo Group Co Ltd, one of China’s 520 largest multi-industrial and multi-regional enterprises. Our group is mainly engaged in coal exploration and mining, electricity generation and electrolytic aluminum production.
Our parent company is Chinese, but it is not headquartered in Beijing, Shanghai, or even Guangzhou. In fact, it comes from Henan, a province most people have never heard of.
We’re a Regional Player
We think this is a good thing, because instead of having a “big city mentality”, we are very much a regional player.
That means we understand what it is like to live and work away from the major cities, and we like it.
One thing you will hopefully discover is that we really are different.
Based in Australia, Employing Australians
For example, most of the people who work on our project are Australian, not Chinese.
This will be the case with our mine as well, as we create jobs for Australians in the local community.
